Doc is celebrating his "More Than Fifty Years" on the frets.

For most of my 50+ years on the frets dealing with the in and outs, the ups and downs, the trials and tribulations of things while playing my music has been more fun for me than the IRS would or should allow an outlaw such as I to legally have! But what the heck, to hell with them! I loved every minute of it. I have done more than I ever thought about ever doing and met many peoples that I dearly love to pieces. So, all in all, it's been a real kick in the ass, to say the least!

Back in 1955, when my parents first started me playing the guitar it was just right down my alley because, I wanted to be like my dad and be able to play anything anyone wanted to hear.

I started out playing western music and shortly after that came some gospel lessons. Not much later country music and I had an affair and when I was first beginning to learn on my own, came that good ol' Rock & Roll!  I began to start writing my own tunes. Can't really say now that they were any good but back then to me they were and they were mine, lol! I went on to dabble in other genres such as jazz, swing, bluegrass and the blues. Mastered none but can molest them all.

Today I play mostly a southern blues lick (my own lick) but love the old Delta style Blues and all Blues really. I favor the 50's and 60's Blues but like I say, I love all the Blues sub genres and all music as far as that goes!

Over the years I have played live with some great Legends and partied with them until we just dropped. I won't say that I am proud of the dropping part but if I had it all to do again, I wouldn't change a thing!

I still do live shows but not as often as I once did. But like all entertainers, I still love to watch all the good peoples have a good time while I play my Blues/Music for them. That's what my music is all about! I might play the Blues but I play a happy blues guitar!

I play at least one of my guitars everyday. It may only be for an hour or so but some days it might be for maybe 15 hours! I love playing my guitars today as much as I did the day I first started! It's a way of  life for me now and as natural as sitting down to eat a meal. I can let all else go when I pick up a guitar!

An outlaw (Waylon Jennings) once said, "You know you're a guitar player when you can pick an entire new tune in your head (literally watching your fingers on the frets & strings) and when you pick up a guitar play it the first time". Then Waylon went on to say about himself, "I am a guitar player"! I can also say, "I am a guitar player" as I have been able to do the same for many many years.

In the last five or so years I have had a ton of fun playing my music with friends I have come to know on the internet. I have met some really kick ass musicians/singers and the bunch I am currently playing with take back seat to nobody! I'm having a blast!

I have taught hundreds of folks how to play basic guitar. Some of them can flat out play circles around me today and that makes me feel really good! "Doc's Easy Guitar Lesson" - Click Here!

If I had to say who my very most favorite blues guitarist of all times was/Is, I wouldn't hesitate one second when I answered "King Albert" (Albert King). He had the Blues covered from all angles and played it like he lived every note. A real Blues master in my book. My style of blues pickin' will always favor the licks of "King Albert". I only wish I could have met and jammed the blues with the man live!

Thanks for your time and drop in again soon to visit with this old Bluesman, ok!
